Till now, all we got to see was the engine that was revealed by Jawa Motorcycles India, a few spy pictures of the motorcycle spotted testing while under heavy camouflage and more recently, a clear picture of the motorcycle sans any camouflage. Now though, there is a new development.
Jawa Motorcycles India was rumoured to launch four models in India first, which would then be exported to International markets. Turns out that the rumours were true indeed. We now have images of two Jawa motorcycles that were spied together.
Well, rest assured, they aren't the same motorcycle with a slightly different design. At the forefront is the retro-design Jawa motorcycle that has been spotted before. It features the exact design traits as seen in the pictures earlier but now in a different colour.
The earlier pictures showcased a the motorcycle in Jawa Red with a chrome patch on the tank and a few other chrome bits on the bike. This is totally inspired by the Jawa motorcycles of yore and the paint job is a testimony to the same.
The new spy pictures though show the same motorcycle in a camouflage paint scheme. The seat too is now brown as opposed to the black seat on the motorcycle in earlier spy shots. It features the 300cc engine that was revealed by Jawa in October.
The neo-retro engine is a liquid-cooled, 300cc single-cylinder motor and Jawa Motorcycles India has styled it to look like a replica of the original engine. It features cooling air-cooling fins even though it is a liquid-cooled engine.
The starter motor has an aluminium cover above it to replicate the original two-stroke engine as the intake manifold and carburettor had a cover above it. The new engine though is a four-stroke unit and is fuel-injected.
Jawa Motorcycles India claims, the engine produces a maximum power output of 27bhp and a peak torque output of 28Nm. Jawa also claims that the exhaust note produced by the engine through the peashooter twin-pipe exhaust system is reminiscent of Jawa motorcycles in the olden ages.
The interesting development in the new spy shots though, is in the background of the picture, almost hidden behind the classic body-style 300cc motorcycle. It is the second model in the new line up of Jawa products. It is visible only partially, since the classic body style obstructs the view.
It does appear to be the Jawa 350 that is currently on sale in the Czech Republic. The circular headlamp with orange-lens indicators at either side and the twin-instrument cluster above it, is an exact match with the styling on the 2018 Jawa 350. The spoked wheel with the disc on the left side too is the same.
The only difference up front is the suspension. While the Jawa 350 sold in the Czech Republic is suspended by conventional forks, the one in these spy pictures rides on upside-down forks that appear to have been taken from the Mahindra Mojo. That wouldn't be surprising since Jawa Motorcycles India is a subsidiary of Classic Legends which is owned by Mahindra.
Though the motorcycle is covered with styrofoam and lamination, one can make out that the fuel tank shape too resembles that of the Jawa 350. It comes with a flat seat and a retro-design circular headlamp.
The Jawa 350 sold internationally is powered by an air-cooled, single-cylinder, single overhead camshaft, 350cc engine with a maximum power output of 26bhp and a peak torque output of 32Nm.
In the Indian market though, it doesn't make sense for Jawa to use the same engine as the motorcycle manufacturer now has a new 300cc engine and also has access to the 300cc engine powering the Mahindra Mojo.
Thoughts On The Jawa 300 & 350 Spy Pics
When the spy images came out earlier, many people loved the retro design, but a few people found it to be too retro for their liking, and Jawa Motorcycles India probably had foresight of this. Hence, Jawa had also teased four other models that would be launched.
It would be wonderful to see the Jawa 350 on Indian roads as well. We would soon know what other models Jawa is looking at launching in India.
New Jawa motorcycle spy pics have been leaked online. Jawa motorcycles is all set to make a comeback and almost everyone seems excited about it. Spy images of the upcoming Jawa motorcycle have leaked once again just a few days before its official launch. The leaked spy images for the first time show a different Jawa motorcycle.
