A Quaint Town On The Banks Of River Beas In Himachal Pradesh
Native Planet | 6th Jun, 2019 05:30 PM

Blessed with scintillating natural beauty in the form of evergreen trees, snow-laden mountains, refreshing rivers, gorgeous landscapes and cascading waterfalls, Himachal Pradesh has everything you can expect from a holiday destination. Be it summer or winter, Himachal is pristine all through the year and each season has its own charm and wonders.

Located in this stunning state is the quintessential town of Raison. It is about 16 km from Kullu and is on the banks of Beas River. Situated at an elevation of 1433 m, Raison is popular for its camping grounds that are stretched over a vast area. Also, it is one of the top rafting destinations in the region and the rafting season is from April to the end of June.

The camping sites are maintained by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism. Also, there are a couple of tourist huts dotting the banks of River Beas. These wooden huts can be booked through the tourist office in Kullu.

Raison is surrounded by breath-taking scenic vistas of the Himalayas and gentle undulating contours of greenery. The most important thing is that it is away from the hustle and bustle of tourist trappings. In fact, the town is a reminder of the nuances that define Himachal Pradesh.

All the buses heading towards Manali through the Kullu Valley cross Raison. The Beas river traces the fringe of the town before reaching the plains of Punjab. The apple orchards are scattered around most of the hills in Raison that adds a dash of red hue to its lush green backdrop.

If a leisurely stroll around the town, fishing, trekking, an impromptu picnic, biking through the hills, kayaking and rafting in the gushing waters of the river or just laid-back holidays is what you are seeking, the valley promises all these and much more.

How To Reach Raison

By air: Kullu Airport located in Bhuntar is the nearest airport to Raison. There are direct flights plying between Delhi, Chandigarh and other places. The airport is about 25 km from Raison. Shimla airport is about 231 km and the airport at Dharamshala is 240 km from Raison.

By train: Joginder Nagar Station is the nearest place with access to the rail network. The station is about 140 km from Raison.

By road: Raison is between Kullu and Manali. All private and State Buses from Kullu to Manali will go via Raison.
