  • Rose Garden

    Zakir Husaain Rose Garden, one of the prime attractions of the city beautiful, is one of the Asia's largest gardens with over 1600 species of roses. Spread over 30 acres, the Garden is located in Sector 16. It was created in 1967 and named after India/s former president Zakir hussain.

    Apart from a huge variety of roses the garden also has many medicinal plants and trees.

  • Sukhna Lake

    The man made picturesque Sukhna lake is quite popular as a picnic spot amongst locals as well as tourists. This lake becomes the venue of a number of activities such as water skiing, boating and yachting. Sukhna Lake is known to have the finest of channels, perfect for yachting and rowing and there it hosts Asiatic level Rowing Championships.

  • Rock Garden

    Chandigarh has the distinction of having a unique world acclaimed Rock Garden. One of its kind, this garden is known to have sculptures that are made-up of industrial and urban wastes includes coal, clay, china ware, broken glass bangles and discarded fluorescent tubes.

  • Pinjore Gardens

    Pinjore Gardens present a fascinating display of Mughal architecture and garden scape. Sprawling over an area of 100 acres, it has been laid in seven terraces. The main gate of the garden opens into the highest first terrace from where you can see the water fountains of the garden. This terrace has been designed in Rajasthani-Mughal style and works like a window that opens to a green expanse.

    A mini zoo, plants nursery, a Japanese garden, historic palaces and picnic lawns await tourists. Especially at weekends, fountains are switched on and after dusk, lights pick up the beauty of the palaces by night.

  • Leisure Valley

    The Leisure Valley has come-up as one of the most sought-after picnic spots of Chandigarh. This garden is spread throughout the city, which starts from Rajendra Park in Sector-1 and concludes at the Bougainvillea garden in sector 3. The garden gets a curved twist when it passes the brink of Sector-23. This cluster of beautiful garden becomes the venue of a 3-day long affair in the month of February, which is a cultural delight.

Chandigarh, the first ever planned city of India is a great getaway to the vibrant hills of Himachal, Uttarakhand and further north. The proximity of the city to Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and Uttarakhand makes it possible for you to take a vacation, whenever you need.

But zeroing in on a weekend getaway could be difficult as the list of tourist destinations and offbeat places near Chandigarh could be longer than you expect.
